This custom Poison Ivy began life as a Create a Monster green witch. She has kept her original eye paint, but has added eyeshadow. Her lips have been repainted.
She now wears a Ginger wig in fantasy red, size 5-6. Her hair is decorated with fabric flowers, beads, fabric leaves and plastic leaf buttons.
She has Venus McFlytrap's arm and leg vines, plus necklace but they have been painted in metallic green and leaf buttons added for decoration. Her shoes began life as Ghoulia's red beach shoes and I cut off the blood drips and painted them green. Her shoes and vines are also decorated with buttons and have extra painted vine detail.
Ivy has painted vines on her legs and arms.
The bodice is created using satin fabric leaves cut from a strip of ribbon. They have been permanently attached to the body for a close fit. The bodice also has leaf buttons added for texture and dimension.
I've seen a few Poison Ivy customs, she's a very popular character! I tried to make mine a bit different with the costume using the flatback leaf buttons and I always put flowers in the hair of my dolls. Thanks for the compliment, but I'm sure yours will be great! Don't let anything put you off making a character you want to, having fun is the main reason I create what I do!
Yours is the best I've seen by far. Heehee, I don't know if I would have the patience to make her costume. The face painting and hair will be easy. The Monster High dolls' bodies make them hard for me to sew for.
Thank you very much! Oh yes! Those bodies! I have made a couple of outfits for them, but it's not easy to get anything to skim those curves! I've bought dresses, far easier! LOL!
I've made a dress, skirt and top successfully and sent them off for a craft swap. I need to make pants and a shirt for the doll I'm customizing. I found a tutorial for making shoes for them, too.
I read a tutorial that said to wrap the doll's foot in plastic wrap then mold the clay around it. When the clay dries, pull the shoe off and remove the plastic wrap. I haven't tried it yet though.
I had the same idea! I haven't started on her yet but I don't think she'll be half as lovely as yours.
